Stony Brook WholeHearted Foods
Stony Brook WholeHearted Foods was founded by Greg Woodworth and Kelly Coughlin in 2008. Located in Geneva, New York, Stony Brook creates unrefined vegetable oils from roasted varietal squash seeds; pumpkin, acorn, delicata, butternut and kabocha (buttercup) squash. The oils are expeller pressed, meaning the oil is mechanically pressed without excessive heat or chemicals.
Today, Stony Brook’s squash seed oils can be found in specialty food stores across the United States. It has received favorable reviews from the food editors of the New York Times, Boston Globe and Wall Street Journal. Stony Brook is the only domestic producer of squash seed oils in the U.S., using 100% locally grown ingredients.

Empire Cider Company
Geneva, New York, June 2017 – Empire Cider Company LLC, located at the Cornell Agriculture and Food Technology Park in Geneva, NY, has had recent success entering into hard cider competitions nationally.
Earlier in 2017 Empire Cider earned four competition medals at the Great Lakes International Cider Competition, held in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Empire Cider’s hard ciders are made exclusively from the Empire apple variety which are harvested in Wayne County by Doyle Farms.
In June, Empire Cider’s was proud to learn that the Western Cider Company of Montana won a gold medal and the overall best of show award at the Portland International Cider Cup, which features ciders from the mature northwest cider markets of Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. Western Cider Company is Montana’s first cider company and one of Empire Cider’s early clients. Given the strength of the competition, Western’s Gold Medal speaks volumes about Empire Cider’s product development capabilities. Western Cider Company has engaged Empire Cider to develop its cider portfolio using fresh pressed apple juice from Washington State. Based on the strength and breadth of the product portfolio developed by Empire Cider, Western Cider was named New Cidery of the Year.
Empire Cider’s products include; Empire Blanc, a modern dry cider; Empire Golden, a modern sweet cider; Empire Cherry Rosé, a modern fruit cider with a hint of cherry; and Empire Basil, a specialty cider infused with locally grown basil. Empire Cider’s Chief Cider Maker is Ms. Angela Eliasz.
Sometime during August 2017, Empire Cider will release its award winning small-batch ciders in the Finger Lakes region under the brand name The Cider Lab. Empire Cider established The Cider Lab to better integrate science into the art of cidermaking.
